HMX Sandstorm – Tactile Switches with Pronounced Bump and Clear Sound
The HMX Sandstorm switch, manufactured by HMX, redefines the tactile experience through a combination of a precise bump and a characteristic clacky sound. Inspired by the Type R structure, Sandstorm offers a distinct tactile sensation from the beginning to the end of the keystroke, with a short, almost imperceptible linear portion at the end of the press.
Unique Tactile Experience
Sandstorm brings a profile close to the "tactile D" type, where each keystroke begins and ends with clear and consistent feedback.
The tactility is constant, offering a satisfying and rhythmic sensation during typing — ideal for those who prefer a well-defined response without compromising the fluidity of movement.
Innovative Construction and Distinct Acoustics
Top housing: Polycarbonate (PC) – the new design of the HMX top housing with a wider top opening eliminates the syringe effect and provides smooth and controlled movement.
Bottom housing: PA66 (Nylon) – offers structural stability and a full, balanced sound.
Stem: POM – ensures a solid tactile feel and rapid key return.
In terms of acoustics, Sandstorm maintains the HMX signature: a clacky, clear, and satisfying sound that accentuates each keystroke.
High-Precision Factory Lubrication
Each switch is factory lubricated using a thin film of Krytox 205g0 applied to the stem legs and guides.
The spring and metal contact are also lubricated to ensure consistency and a smooth feel in use.

Spring and Specifications
